What is a Dove Gathering?
Essentially, a Dove Gathering is a breakout session for people who care about Holy Comforter Episcopal Church to reflect on the work of our Parish in the current year and to get ready for the coming year.
Why is it called a Dove Gathering?
The name “Dove Gathering” is inspired by the name of our Parish and our dove logo. Our gatherings are intended to promote a spirit of unity and peace and help our Parish bring the Spirit of the Lord to our members and our community.
Do I have to be a member to come to a Dove Gathering?
You do not have to be a member to come. Our gatherings are open to anyone who cares about our Parish.
Does it cost anything to attend a Dove Gathering?
There is no cost to attend.
Can children attend?
Children can attend. The October 26 gathering at the Ziegler home is likely to have the most young teens and children, but kids are welcome at any location.
Will there be childcare for the Dove Gathering?
Childcare will not be provided for Dove Gatherings this year.
Will there be food at the Dove Gathering?
Food offerings will vary depending on which location you choose to attend. All locations will have snacks and drinks. Some hosts may choose to offer a light meal.
How long will the Dove Gatherings last?
Dove Gatherings will last about an hour and a half.
Where will the Dove Gatherings be held?
This year we have seven different locations and times available for Dove Gatherings. Most of the gatherings will be held in the home of a Parish member. You can find the locations and times here hcec.link/Dove-Gatherings.
Who else will be there?
Each gathering will include clergy (Father John and/or Father Tony), vestry members, stewardship committee members and a group of church members.
What will we do at the Dove Gatherings?
Each gathering will be a little different, but all of them will include these things:
Time to visit with other attendees over snacks
Group reflection on what Holy Comforter means to us
Share about the overall health of our congregation and a financial update
Provide plans for 2026 and the budget needed to accomplish those plans
Invite feedback and questions for our clergy and Vestry
Invite everyone to make a financial commitment to Holy Comforter for 2026
