Job Description
Ministry Context:
Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Spring, Texas, is a growing church that currently has an annual budget of over $600,000. The church takes seriously its responsibility to steward their resources in service to God’s work in this world. Job Overview:
The Financial Administrator (FA) is responsible for tracking all financial transactions of the church in a timely and accurate manner. This is a part-time (20 hours per week) salaried position.
Principle Duties:
Process payroll and maintain accurate information for employees.
Reconcile accounts and prepare deposits.
Prepare financial reports for the Treasurer, Vestry, and Rector.
Track expenses and receipts in comparison to the church budget.
Assist with the annual budget preparation process.
Track donations and send out donor statements.
Calculate and record unrealized gains/losses on held securities.
Generate and file 1099 forms.
Provide all necessary information to the Financial Review/Audit committee.
Complete financial sections of any diocesan reports and the annual parochial report.
Track and prepare payment for all bills.
Review and certify employee W-2 Forms
Communicate clearly in everyday language about financial matters with parishioners.
Assist with signature changes on accounts.
Follow established financial procedures and help resolve any weaknesses in these procedures.
Use QuickBooks (our bookkeeping software) and Planning Center Giving (our donor management software).
Maintain strict confidentiality about donors’ records and financial situations.
Collaborate with other staff of the church using their gifts and skills to support your work and offering your gifts and skills to support their work.
Perform additional duties assigned by the rector.
Ideal Qualifications:
Comfort with Microsoft applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
Proven experience managing and tracking financial operations.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with all kinds of people.
Established record of trust and integrity.
Education and Experience:
At least three years of experience with financial administration with a church or nonprofit.
